happy 3rd independence day kosovo

We got this message from the US consulate yesterday...

"As the third anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence approaches, the U.S. Embassy Pristina reminds U.S. citizens to exercise caution when outside during celebratory events.

Associated celebrations are expected to be peaceful, but as with many such events in the Balkans, people are likely to shoot firearms into the air as an act of celebration (celebratory gunfire).  People have been seriously injured or killed during such celebratory gunfire.
wooooooooooooo!

Pristina Municipality has scheduled a fireworks display at 2230 on 17 February, and it is expected to last for 10 minutes.  Although celebratory gunfire can happen at any time, we expect that the most intense period will coincide with the planned fireworks display.

U.S. Embassy Pristina strongly advises U.S. citizens to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary risk of exposure to injuries as a result of celebratory gunfire and also avoid large crowds where individuals may be engaged in celebratory gunfire."

  1. Ok, you two- I hope you are safely ensconced in your apt (which is stocked up with food and drink) and are artistically painting and drawing away!
